Hello students! I am an interventionist at Ordway. I teach a lot of math math and some reading to small groups of students. I absolutely LOVE my job.
About 908 years ago, I was in elementary school just like you. I grew up in Eastern Washington on a family dairy farm. Because I grew up on a farm, I had a lot of pets. I had a pet cow named Paula, a pet sheep named Edie, a pet horse named Mia -- she was grumpy and would buck me off any chance she got -- and a pet rabbit named Abraham. I really wanted my own dog but didn’t get one until I was 11. I loved to read comic books and fairy tales, I loved eating ice cream, and I wanted to be a ballerina and/or a wildlife biologist when I grew up.
As an adult, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Literature, a Juris Doctorate, and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. Before entering the teaching profession, I practiced law in Seattle and New York City. This is my 9th year being an Ordway Otter and my 14th year of teaching. During my teaching career, I was the recipient of the Excellence in Mathematics Award from the Washington State Mathematics Council and OESD and I was a nominee for the Washington State Teacher of the Year Award. Each year I strive to improve my practice, learning from colleagues, students and families.
I have three wonderful children -- one who is just about to graduate from UCLA with a degree in mathematics, one starting 12th grade at Bainbridge High School, and a fifth grader at Sakai. In my free time, I love to read, run, hike, garden, spend time with friends and family, and go on adventures. I can’t wait to learn all about you this year.
