Sakai Art is aligned with the National Core Art Standards which provides a framework for advancing students' artistic understanding.
We work to build creative habits as we learn to:
Generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work
Organize and develop ideas and work
Refine and complete artistic work
Select, analyze, and interpret artistic work for presentation.
Perceive and analyze artistic work
Interpret intent and meaning
Apply criteria to evaluate work
Make art by synthesizing and relating knowledge and personal experiences
Deepen understanding by relating artistic ideas to societal, historical, and cultural contexts.
My personal goals for my students are for them to love art. I hope that they will enjoy the process, gain skills, find artistic confidence, and experience a variety of mediums. Please watch the video to see what Sakai students have created this year. Enjoy!

I am so excited to make music with your kids! I am looking forward to watching them explore, grow and learn throughout the year. Music is a place for students to work hard, expand their horizons and HAVE FUN! See you soon!
Physical Education at Sakai aligns with SHAPE (Society for Health and Physical Educators) National Standards. Through the guidance of these standards such as:
Students will demonstrate competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns.
Students will apply knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics related to movement and performance.
Students will demonstrate the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness.
Students will exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others.
Students will recognize the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.
I try to create activities where students address these standards throughout the year. Whether it is through gameplay or other activities, my intention is to encourage students to be physically active while also having fun.
