Hello! My name is Ms. Bedell. I am thrilled to be teaching Kindergarten this year. This is my 21st (truly, I've lost count) year at Blakely and my thirty-second year working in education. My entry into teaching began in my home state of California in 1991. I've worked with kids in some capacity ever since and with a range of grades Pre-K to Fifth grade.
I moved to Washington in 1992 after completing my BA in Art at U.C. Berkeley and met my husband two days later! Soon after my move, I attended University of Washington to get my teaching certificate and a few years after that I received my masters in curriculum and instruction with a focus on reading from Seattle Pacific University. I've been an islander for twenty-three years. I raised my sons here and they attended Blakley too.
For the last seven years I have been the STEM specialist and Highly Capable teacher at Blakely elementary. This year I felt ready for a change- a return to the classroom. When I'm not teaching I love to travel the world, kayak, read, write, draw and spend time with my family.
I'm so excited and honored to be your child's teacher this year. I look forward to getting to know them and the entire family.
