Important School Information
New Information:
Hello, everyone!
We have a number of students on our waiting list to be paired with a Reading Buddy through Education Connection. This would be about a 30 minute commitment one day a week. Buddies read with a student for 15 minutes and then switch to a second student for another 15 minutes. This is ideal for parents and grandparents. The registration link is below and does require a brief online training.
Old Information:
All absence excuse notes need to be filled out online at. Click link to submit absences notes.
Hi families,
I'm excited to share with you all a Transportation Change Dismissal Form. This is to provide you with convenience in notifying us when you need to change dismissal for your child. Please complete the form by 2:00pm the day you are needing a transportation change. Also, please be sure to complete the form for each day your child needs a change and for each child (if multiple). For example, if you need to change transportation for Wednesday, August 27 and Thursday, August 28, complete the form twice indicating the dates. If you are changing transportation to bus rider, please indicate what bus number on the last question.
We are hopeful this will help with trying to get through to the office during the day when the phone line is extremely busy.
Please click here to notify us of a transportation change. We will start using this form from now on.
I want you to be aware that we've seen an increased presence of snakes, specifically rattlesnakes, on campus. This is important for you to know so you can speak to your child about being aware of their surroundings. We have a few things going on to ensure the safety of our Colts:
1. HPE teachers receive safety training specific to snakes.
2. A BISD employee engages in snake walks each morning prior to the arrival of students.
3. Teachers walk the playground areas prior to releasing students for recess.
4. HPE security guard checks for snakes on his door check walks.
5. We teach staff and students to STOP, LOOK, & LISTEN anytime leaving the building. This is to ensure safety in many areas. An important step here would be to look down when opening doors as snakes like to coil in the corners of doors and door walkways.
Reminders
Look for communication about Nurse and Counselor concent form.
New Texas Legislation has banned all phones and smart watches during school hours. All phones, watches, and tracking devices will need to be turned off and secured in backpacks while at school. These items will be taken up and put in the office for you to pick up if they are out of backpacks.
Students need a change of clothes in their backpack.
Students need to provide their own snack for the designated snack times.
Water bottles need to be spillproof and shatterproof (no glass or Stanley cups, please).
If you student is unable to tie their shoes, please do not send them in shoes with laces.
Please leave jewelry and toys at home. These cause distractions and tears if they become lost or broken.
Read 20 minutes every night
Practice tying shoes if your child does not know how to tie their shoes.
