Undergrad Work
I received my undergraduate degree at Angelo State. I have an active teaching license for the state of Texas, in the areas of general education- grades: Kindergarten through eighth grade, and special education- grades: Pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade.
Teaching Career
I started my teaching career by subbing at the elementary and middle school levels. I instantly fell in love with the profession and wanted to educate as many students as possible. I subbed in a special education classroom and knew I had found my place! I work in various schools and rolls, ranging from elementary to high school, 3rd grade general education to self-contained behavioral programs. Each roll helped me to gain valuable experience and knowledge that would set me up for a new area and way to help students. I taught for 10 years when Covid hit. I noticed the decline in student, school staff, and parent mental health and back to school I went!
Graduate Work & Beyond
I began my journey into mental health with hopes of owning my own practice and helping children, couples, and families, but there were greater plans in the works. I was offered a job as a school counselor and a beautiful partnership began! Working between two campus is tough, but I have enjoyed learning the in's and out's of both campus. My dual roll allows me to carry some students with me as they transition from pre-k to kindergarten and be a consistent resource for elementary students. This job allows me to pull together all the things I have learned and support students and families. I couldn't ask for more and am so grateful to BISD for this opportunity.

Undergrad Work
I attended Tarleton State University where I recieved my B.A. in History and Political Science. During this time I was a member of organizations such as Alpha Gamma Delta, student government, and Minority Student Alliance. I also received the opportunity to study abroad through a civil rights research program.
Teaching Career
After receiving my alternative certification to teach, I entered the world of education at the middle school level where I coached girls athletics year round and taught history. I've also served in the role of AVID coordinator and taught pre-journalism at this level. In the high school world, I've taught english and even served as a librarian/media specialist. My background within both the social sciences and humanities realm serves to strengthen my reach and commitment to serving, advocating for, and supporting all walks of life.
Graduate Work & Beyond
Having realized that my path was driven by the quote "Be the person you needed when you were younger", I decided to get my M.Ed. in Counseling and Development – Prof. School Counseling from Lamar University to bridge my passions with the knowledge necessary to positively impact children's mental health. I joined Miller Heights Elementary for its last year in existence (23-24) as their school counselor and am honored to have traveled with the school community now built into Hubbard Branch. The next step in my journey is further honing my skills into a Licensed Professional Counselor, with hopes of extending my reach to children's mental health outside of just the school system.
