Belton New Tech @ Waskow
What is Belton New Tech @ Waskow?
Belton New Tech @ Waskow is a school of choice located in downtown Belton. We are a project-based learning school that develops and enhances critical thinking, group leadership, and responsibility through projects designed to address real-world scenarios. Students learn 21st-century skills through communication, collaboration, self-advocacy, and presentation. Students value a sense of community with peers and teachers.
Belton New Tech @Waskow is named after Captain Henry T. Waskow, from Belton, Texas. Captain Waskow was an officer in the United States Army and was killed in action in 1944. Captain Waskow is particularly remembered for his empathy and his portrayal of the sacrifices made by those in the military. Belton New Tech was the first school designated as a Purple Heart School. Captain Waskow believed in giving back to the community. In honor of Captain Waskow, students and staff participate in Purple Heart Day, a day of service to our community.
