We have to learn Part 1
Play from 2:30
Summer Wonderland
Two soloists to start:
A: Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening…
B: Wait a minute. Can you even hear yourself?
A: Yeah! I thought I was nailing it!
B: Well yeah, but it’s 20 degrees out there. Did you have to fight much snow on your way over?
A: Oh right… But I’m s’posed to do a solo. I’ve got to sing something!
B: Me too. Mum’s recording this.
Both pause and think…
B: How about (speak, not sing) “Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?
Sunburns sting, iceblocks glistening”
A: A beautiful sight of barbies alight
Strolling through a summer wonderland.
High five.
B: Let’s do it!
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?
Sunburns sting, iceblocks glistening
A beautiful sight of barbies alight
Strolling through a summer wonderland.
Pour the drinks in the sunshine
Pour the drinks in the sunshine
Serve the pav up at lunchtime
Serve the pav… lunchtime
Pop the bubbles for Nan, pineapples on ham
Strolling through a summer wonderland.
In the arvo we can grab the wickets
Oooo… wickets
The plastic cricket bat your brother found
Oooo… found
Backyard full of all your distant rellies
Oooo… rellies
So we pass the can of mozzie spray around.
Later on sun is falling
Your old matua, yeah he’s snoring
We hear the birds in the trees
And the warm summer breeze
Strolling through a summer wonderland.
When its dark we wander down the neighbours
Ooo… neighbours
Game of spotlight ‘round the feijoa trees.
Ooo… trees
Mum and aunty calling us for home time
Ooo… home time
We want another game, one more, please!
Way down here Christmas landmarks
Summer flowers and funny tan-marks
We’re happy and bright
Not a snowman in sight
Strolling through a summer wonderland.
Strolling through a summer wonderland.
