My name is Hung P. Tong-Viet, and I am a Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Binghamton University. Before joining Binghamton, I held postdoctoral positions at Department of Mathematical Sciences, Kent State University; at Bielefeld University in Germany; and at North-West University and the University of KwaZulu-Natal, both in South Africa. I earned my Ph.D in Pure Mathematics from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
Over the years, I have taught at several universities, including Wayne State University (Detroit, Michigan) and the Universities of Pretoria and KwaZulu-Natal in South African, where I served as a lecturer and senior lecturer, respectively. I joined Binghamton University as an Assistant Professor in 2017, was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2020, and became a full Professor in 2023.
My primary research interests lie in finite group theory, particularly in the character of finite groups, permutation groups, and their applications.
