Do you have a student ENTERING Kindergarten *next*school year (September, 2026)? Are you curious about Jumpstart for your incoming Kindergarten student? Please read about Jumpstart below to see if it could be a good fit. Then fill out the Interest Form if you'd like to be considered.
Jumpstart is a part of House Bill 352: Early Literacy Targeted Interventions.
It's purpose is to provide extra literacy opportunities and instruction to students who are at risk of reading difficulties in grades K-3.
Students must score at-risk based on approved screeners.
Jumpstart is for students entering Kindergarten, First, Second, or Third grades.
For students going into Kindergarten, please wait for "Kindergarten Round-Up" at your child's home school. Here, your child will be assessed to see if Jumpstart would be a good fit. Students *must* be registered in BPS before attending Jumpstart.
For students going into first-third grade, we will be using the Winter Fastbridge assessments to determine eligibility. If a student's scores show that Jumpstart could be a good fit, parents will receive an email with next steps and registration information.
Emails will not go out until late March. Until then, you can always express interest to your child's teacher to make sure you are in the know.
