Choir Grading

Students participate in class by singing, developing physical skills (i.e. using their body and voice, matching pitch, etc.) as well as academic musicianship skills like learning to read music, understanding text, musical context, and music history, as just a few examples. They are expected to give their best effort everyday in order to learn and grow. Mistakes through honest effort are expected and welcome, even celebrated in some cases. Through fun and artistic collaboration, students cannot help but improve every day.

66% of a student's grade will be based on their attendance and participation in the three required performances. The other 34% will be based on merit broken up into their work in class such as written or digital quizzes, unit tests, and music preparation checks, singing tests recorded and evaluated by Mr. Hammond as well as other intangibles related to the student's overall contribution to the group.

To develop self evaluation and improvement based on feedback, written/digital and singing tests will be allowed to be retaken for improvement one time per test.
