The instrumental music program provides students in the 4th grade with small group instruction on the following instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba and Percussion.
LESSONS
Lessons are given to students in small groups of like instruments. Classes meet 1 time per week for a 30 minute pull-out lesson.
Students are given weekly assignments from their lesson book, Standard of Excellence, Book 1, or teacher provided materials. We ask for students to practice this material 20 minutes, 3 times per week. Learning is best achieved through repetition.
BAND
In January, students are invited to the after school band based on their song completions in the Standard of Excellence book. Band is a grouping of all instrumental students from the 5 Billerica Elementary Schools. The ensemble meets after-school, one day per week starting in January. The rehearsals are held at the Billerica Memorial HS Band Room from 3-4:15 pm. Students are bused from their elementary schools for rehearsals, and families must provide transportation home.
