In 1936, 200 people set off on what became known as the Jarrow Crusade, walking 300 miles to London to be seen and heard.
In 2026, we’re flipping the script. To mark the 90th anniversary, we’re walking those 300 miles back home. Not as a protest, but as a cultural homecoming.
Jarra March 2026 is rooted in the people of this town. Led by local scientist-turned-writer, Liam Little, and supported by community partners and cultural collaborators, this is a shared project, shaped by Jarra.
Our collaborators:
We are building momentum by walking with the Jarra community. Every month we walk around the town and get to know each other.
From London back to Jarra, we’re bringing stories, friendships and culture home, with a final celebration landing in Jarra at the end of October.
Remembering the past, looking to the future. The project aligns with the Jarrow Forward vision for enhancing NE32 postcode over the next 10 years.
