PLAYERS TO WATCH
Ryan Gale, Triton, Sr.
Gale has been a top playmaker during two very special seasons for the Mustangs the past two years. As a sophomore, he had 10 goals and 11 assists as Triton won the South Jersey, Group 3 title for the program’s first sectional championship. Last year as a junior, he scored a team-high 12 goals — good for fifth in the South Jersey Times coverage area — to help the Mustangs go 13-0. His creativity in the attacking third and finishing ability will once again be key this fall.
Triton
A special senior class that helped lead the Mustangs to their first sectional championship in 2019 and an undefeated season in 2020 has graduated, but expectations still remain high. In addition to leading scorer Ryan Gale, Triton also brings back a proven playmaker in senior forward Max Hawk (six goals, five assists). Senior Beytullah Ozbas (six goals, four assists) is a key player in the midfield, while senior Dom Ricco is a returner at defensive midfield and senior Jeremy Pfiffer is one of the most experienced players on the back line. The Mustangs might not be as deep as in recent seasons but several varsity newcomers could make their presence felt and help the team contend with Delsea in the Tri-County Liberty Division.
