College Athletic Divisions.

• There are 3 levels of college athletics
  • Division 1 and Division 2 schools are allowed to provide scholarships specifically for athletics.
  • Division 3 schools do not provide scholarships for athletics but can provide non atheltics scholarships.

Who should register with NCAA?

• Any student athlete that wishes to receive a scholarship from a D1 or a D2 school needs to create an account and register with the NCAA Clearing house.
  • Student and parent must complete information.
  • There is a required fee that must be paid to official be registered.

How to become eligible for a scholarship

• D1 and D2 schools require that a student completes a certain amount of "Core Courses" to be eligible.
  • "Core Course" are specifically approved NCAA courses offered by the school that fall into the main academic content areas.
  • (Click here for all TC NCAA Core Courses.)
• In addition to passing the required amount of "Core Courses" a student must reach a GPA standard and standardized test scores.
  • The GPA used by NCAA is only for " Core Courses"
  • The required standardized test score needed is based on a sliding scale that uses your Core GPA.
  • The better the GPA the lower the required standardized test score.
• The Sliding Scales of Division 1 and Division 2 are slightly different and posted below.

Completing your NCAA account.

• A student's account will be totally complete when...
• Student and parent have answered all required questions.
• They have paid the require registration fee.
• The NCAA has received an official copy of standardized test scores from the testing agency.
• Official HS transcripts are sent.
• Student has taken all required core courses, Earned the correct GPA and standardized test scores.
