Miss Liz 

Miss Liz grew up in New Jersey and Connecticut and graduated twice from Maine Maritime Academy in 2006 with a BS in Marine Transportation and in 2008 with a MS in International Business.  After graduating, she worked in offshore drilling operations and had a small business in Maine.  She was a Lab Instructor at MMA, a substitute teacher, and a special education Ed Tech 3 before joining the BHCS faculty full time as a Kindergarten teacher in 2020. She has completed 30+ hours of early childhood education courses through various institutions including EMCC, Southern New Hampshire State University, and Endicott College. The 2026-2027 school year is her 7th year in this position. 

She holds a K-8 General Education Certificaiton from the State of Maine and, she is currently working towards becoming a National Board Certified Teacher, board certifing as an Early Childhood Generalist for ages 3-8.  https://www.nbpts.org/

Miss Liz partnered with the Maine Department of Education (MDOE) as a Kindergarten Entry Implementation Specialist from 2024–2026, completing a two-year, statewide implementation project. She also partnered with the MDOE to pilot the State of Maine’s MOOSE Modules in Wabanaki Studies. She has served as a mentor teacher for Educational Technicians pursuing additional certification and evaluation. In August 2026, she completed training with the MDOE’s Educator Excellence Team, qualifying her to serve as a Mentor Teacher. She is also completing facilitator training for the Emergent Literacy Professional Learning Community Modules through the MDOE, preparing her to support professional learning and help educators across Maine implement evidence based emergent literacy practices.

In the summer of 2024, Miss Liz participated in the MDOE’s partnership with the AIM Institute for Learning & Research, completing eight professional learning modules in literacy instruction grounded in the Science of Reading. She has continued this work alongside four colleagues at BHCS through the Maine DOE’s AIM Pathways: School Literacy Community of Practice Project, helping secure a $5,000 literacy grant to support BHCS. During the summer, Miss Liz also provides tutoring in mathematics and English language arts.

At BHCS, Miss Liz has served on the Playground Committee, Pre-K Committee, and ELA Committee. She has also served as Drama Director, Boy's Coastal Basketball Coach and as the school's Scripps Spelling Bee Coordinator. This year, she will serve as the Pre-K–2 Team Leader.

When she's not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family, her chickens, shopping, traveling, gardening, coffee, boating, and exploring the coast of Maine.
