BHASED

Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy

Welcome

The Black Hawk Area Special Education District (BHASED) is a special education joint agreement between fourteen local school districts in the Illinois counties of Henry, Mercer and Rock Island. We cover approximately 1,200 square miles and serve parents and school staff that work with approximately 30,000 public, private and parochial school students.

We want teachers, parents, students, school administrators and all others that we serve to trust that BHASED staff are a valuable resource; that we are a team of professionals willing to partner with them to facilitate the appropriate education and socialization of all students.

What do our Related Service staff members do with students in schools?

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS

Occupational therapy focuses on academics, play and leisure, social participation, self-care skills (ADLs or Activities of Daily Living), and transition/ work skills.

PHYSICAL THERAPISTS

Physical therapy helps students overcome their physical challenges by improving strength, balance, coordination, and/or mobility to learn and socialize at the same pace as their peers.

SPEECH THERAPISTS

Speech therapy works with kids on language, speaking, listening, and reading skills designing activities based on individual needs.
