Preschool Screening

Contact the BHASED Preschool Screening Team for a developmental, behavioral, and speech/language screening.

What is a preschool screening?

Any or all of the following may occur:

• Individual screening of vocabulary, fine and gross motor, and basic school skills.

• Questionnaire and interview completed with parents or teachers.

What happens next?

As a result of screening, one or more of the following services may be provided.

• Additional screening by a speech-language pathologist

• Referral to the child’s local school district for further evaluation and possible placement in an appropriate early childhood education program

• Referral to other agencies.

* Screenings are provided throughout the school year in local daycare centers, preschools, and elementary schools. Additional screenings are provided for children not enrolled in daycare or preschool, or who may have missed their public school screening.
