National Honor Society membership is by invitation in a student's junior or senior year. Those students with a 4.0 GPA are invited to apply for membership. Applications generally go out after the first marking quarter of each school year. The applications are reviewed and approved by the Faculty Council, made up of 5 staff members of BHASD. Upon approval of the application the NHS Induction Ceremony will be held for new members.
In order to complete the membership requirements and graduate with NHS distinction, members must complete 50 additional service hours in the form of a project of their choice.
