This course explores the structure, functions, and processes of the United States government, while also examining the interplay between media and politics. Topics include constitutional foundations, including the separation of powers and federalism, and the roles of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. The course covers the electoral process, political parties, and the budgetary process. As a secondary focus, students will investigate the media's role in politics, and its influence on public opinion. Through a combination of lectures, discussions, case studies, and current event analyses, learners will develop a strong understanding of American government principles and critical thinking skills to evaluate media's role in the political landscape.
