Background Information
I began teaching at BHHS in August 2012. Before joining the incredible team at BHHS, I taught Spanish Immersion (Social Studies in Spanish) in Portland, Oregon and AP English in Quito, Ecuador. This is my 26th year in the teaching profession. I hold PA certifications in Social Studies, English, Spanish, and ESL. I am very passionate about teaching, however I did not discover this until after I graduated. My BA from Virginia Tech is in International Studies, Spanish, and Agricultural and Applied Economics…yes, a far cry from teaching indeed!
After graduation, I fell into a teaching position at Notre Dame High School in Bethlehem and subsequently discovered my life’s calling to become a teacher. I later went on to earn my Master’s in Secondary Education from the University of Alabama.
During my 11 years teaching in Ecuador, I chaired the English Department, advised the Student Council, and prepped students for international speech competitions. I also helped plan four academic trips to the Galapagos Islands. Learning about the diverse world in which we live is incredibly exciting. My background and extensive travel allow me to bring this excitement into the classroom here at Brandywine.
I am looking forward to an engaging year of Spanish this year!!!
