My name is Catherine Sims Hogan, and I am 52 years old. I was born and raised in central Indiana before moving a week after I graduated high school to northern Kentucky, in 1985. I attended NKU, UK, and finally finished with a BS in Elementary Education from WKU in 1993. My husband and I loved the Bowling Green area and people, so after we married in 1997, we bought some land in Allen County where we currently live. We've had horses, chickens, cows, and turkeys; however, after discovering our desire to camp and travel, we have cut our farm down to 2 dogs and 2 barn cats!
This will be my 6th year teaching in the classroom. I taught 5 1/2 years at Potter Gray from 2007-2013. I decided to work on my masters degree for a while so left the certified classroom for several years while working as an instructional assistant in special education in Potter Gray's FMD room. After completing more graduate level courses and recertifying, I have a strong desire to be back in the classroom, and am thrilled to be a 3rd grade teacher for the 2020-2021 school year!
I have been happily married to my college sweetheart, Joe Hogan, for 23 years. He is a real estate agent with ReMax. We have 4 beautiful daughters, Ellie (21), Aubrey (19), Amanda (13), and Erin (9), all of whom attended Potter Gray. Our 2 oldest daughters are at WKU, both pursuing teaching degrees. Both of our younger daughters love soccer, swimming, and animals!
I have always loved children, discovering my love for teaching in the 4th grade when assigned to help struggling kindergarteners with reading as a school wide peer tutoring program. I was hooked!
My hobbies include cooking, gardening, walking, swimming, and spending time with my family camping.
I am looking forward to getting to know our students this year!
