The Bowling Green Independent School District Board of Education is committed to identifying and supporting students who demonstrate high potential or perform at exceptionally high levels. Gifted and talented students are identified and provided educational services in accordance with 704 KAR 3:285 and Board policies governing Gifted and Talented Services.

The district is committed to equitable identification practices and considers environmental, cultural, linguistic, socioeconomic, and disabling factors that may mask a student's abilities and lead to the exclusion of otherwise eligible students. This includes consideration of students identified as exceptional children and youth as defined in KRS 157.200, multilingual learners, students who are economically disadvantaged, and students who are underachieving.

Each school in the district has a Gifted and Talented Educational Services Contact who facilitates the implementation of gifted services for identified students. The school contact serves as a resource for teachers by providing instructional support, sharing information about enrichment opportunities and special projects, and assisting with the implementation of services for gifted and talented students. In addition, the district employs two Gifted and Talented Resource Teachers who provide consultation and collaborative support to teachers and direct services to identified students in kindergarten through grade eight.
