Sometimes when we face disappointment, sadness or loss, it is hope that strengthens us to see that joy will come again. This was true for the apostles who felt sad and confused after Jesus died. However, in the Gospel story of the Road to Emmaus we witness how Jesus restores their hope and helps them to see that they can continue to share the Good News with others. Read the Gospel story (Luke 24:28-32) or watch the video below (start the video at 3:40)
Think about these questions:
What do you think the apostles meant when they asked, “Were not our hearts burning within us?”
What do you think the apostles were feeling as they heard the wisdom of the stranger?
Why was their sadness replaced with hope?
Today's Activity: Take a minute and identify people in your family and/or the world who are beacons of hope.
What can you do to be a beacon of hope for your family today? Consider calling a grandparent or other family member, spending some extra time with a younger sibling, completing a chore for another family member, etc.
