Google Earth

Google Earth is a fantastic tool to use at home and in the classroom! You can have hours of fun exploring, learning, and creating in this app.

Head over to earth.google.com/web to start exploring!

Click the button on the right to watch a video from BGCDSB about using Google Earth or keep scrolling to learn more!

You can explore Google Earth using your mouse or track pad. Just click and drag the globe to view different places.

You can zoom in using the scroll wheel on your mouse or clicking the + and - buttons

You can easily search for cities, countries, or points of interest using the Search button on the left hand side.

You can change your view from 2D (top down) or 3D (side view) by clicking the 2D/3D button or holding the Shift key on your keyboard and clicking/dragging the map.

You can explore most of the Earth in Streetview by clicking and dragging Pegman onto the map. Anything the lights up in blue when you grab Pegman is accessible in Streetview.

Use the Voyager button on the left side to find stories, travel guides, games, and quizzes created by experts around the world!

You can use the Measurement tool to map out distances and area of any place on Earth. How big is Ontario compared to some European countries? Which country has the longest border? Find out yourself!











The Projects tool lets you collect various locations around the world, label them, and show them off like a story.

Simply click the Projects button on the left panel, click New Project, and begin searching for locations.

You can also use the Placemark or Draw Lines and Shapes buttons at the bottom left and add them to your project.

You can add your own descriptions and information to each location and choose the highlighted pictures for each location.


When you're finished, you can share your project by clicking the Share button at the top of your page.
