Happy Speech Season!
Bondurant-Farrar HS is SO excited to host you for IHSSA District Individual Contest.
Location: The contest will be held at the high school: 1000 Grant St. N, Bondurant, IA 50035 (make sure to inform your supporters that we are at the HIGH school, not the junior high - it is directly to the north, so guests tend to get mixed up).
Parking: Buses should drop students off at the north doors and will be directed on where to park by our parking director. If you are bringing a school van, you can park in the staff lot (the lot closest to the north entrance). Parents can park in the student lots to the south and west of the building. There is overflow parking at the junior high (north of the HS). Coaches and students are the only ones permitted to enter through the North doors. Spectators can enter through the main or activity doors.
Schedule: The schedule will be posted by Tuesday, February 24th. Make sure your students and supporters have your school code. If you have any drops, please fill out the change form!
Be EARLY: Please have your students ready to perform early. Plan to walk around our building to find the centers so you can be on time for your performances. Inform audience members that centers may run early and to plan accordingly. Districts often have a lot of drops, especially last-minute, so centers tend to get through things quickly.
Noise: Speech contest is one of the best days of the year, so it makes sense that things get loud. Please remind students and supporters to keep the volume down when in the hallways.
Cell phones: Make sure they are completely silent - not vibrate.
Donation: Remind your supporters about the $5 suggested admission donation for the contest site. We will have greeters at the entrances collecting the donation and with schedule information.
Concessions: Please encourage your students and parents to eat at our high school. Concession sales are the main way to make money from hosting contest. Let your parents and students know we discourage bringing in outside food. We will have a wide variety of food for sale at reasonable prices in our cafeteria commons: Casey’s breakfast pizza, Casey's pizza, Subway sandwiches, and much more. We will have dairy-free, gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan choices. Please note that food is not to leave the cafeteria.
Headquarters: The front office will serve as headquarters for coaches. Please stop by when you arrive to get checked in and notify us of any last-minute changes. Ratings will be posted on the library's windows.
Schedule problems: If there are problems with the schedule, please email vaseyk@bfschools.org. I will do my best to make changes promptly. If you have drops, please fill out the change form (linked above).
Review: We will provide a basic AV cart and easel. Contact our contest manager if you need anything else (vaseyk@bfschools.org).
Comment sheets: Please wait to pick up comment sheets until all ratings are posted. If you wish to leave before they are posted, leave a self-addressed, stamped envelope to have them sent. Stop by the office if you forgot your comment sheets, and we will assist you.
Weather: Weather-related information will be on this website, WHO-TV and radio, KCCI-TV, and the IHSSA website. No decision will be made until at least 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The make-up date will be Monday, February 26th. We will also send an email if things get dicey!
Pictures/Videos: Photography and/or videotaping are expressly forbidden.
