Purpose
Our program is designed to provide students with a multitude of performance opportunities, technical theatre experience, and more. Through our overarching programs, the Iowa High School Speech Association and the Iowa High School Musical Theatre Awards, speech and drama provide opportunities for students to build confidence, try something new, and form connections. There are so many skills that students gain from being on and off the stage and competing in large group and/or speech contests. Learning Opportunities
Learning Opportunities
Students who participate in speech and drama gain a variety of experiences, from touring theatre departments at nearby colleges to having outside professionals lead workshops and rehearsals, to engaging with the community and performing on the Civic Center stage. There is always something to do and learn.
