What is Dual Enrollment?
Dual Enrollment is a program that allows you to earn college credit while attending your high school classes (9th - 12th grade). There is no AP exam required. Credit in these classes may transfer to a community college or four-year University. CGCC and the Maricopa County Community Colleges District have agreements with the 3 Arizona State Universities (Arizona State University, University of Arizona, and Northern Arizona University) as well as many out-of-state colleges to accept dual enrollment class credit. Dual Enrollment classes follow a college curriculum and are taught at your high school by highly qualified teachers with the professional credentials to teach community college classes. To be eligible to take a class, students must meet college admissions requirements. To earn college credit, students must pass their high school class with a C or higher.
What is the Cost of Dual Enrollment?
Students and their families are responsible for the tuition and fees associated with enrollment. The in-county tuition rate is $97 per credit hour. There also is a $15 registration fee once per semester. (Tuition is subject to change.) Monthly payment plans are available. Additionally, the Maricopa County Community College District does offer qualifying high school students the opportunity to apply for the Dual Enrollment Grant Program which will provide financial assistance towards participating in Dual Enrollment classes based upon demonstrated financial need.
