In this course, students will be given an overview of the history of the United States from the arrival of Columbus, to the War on Terror. The class will discuss the formation of the country, ideologies, human nature, philosophy, culture, the rise and fall of factions, war, and politics. We will explore the world of historic thinkers such as Jefferson, Frederick Douglas, and more. We will also be exploring sensitive topics such as war, religion, racism, and politics. These will all be given with as little bias as humanly possible. All the while we will be asking ourselves the questions that mankind has been asking since the beginning of time. Who am I? What is my purpose? Is there a Deity, and if there is, what is my relationship with a supreme being? What is the nature of man and government? What is my duty as a citizen of the United States? Using the Socratic Method, students will learn how to think, pursue truth, and apply what they have learned to their own lives.
