Kindergarten Reminders!

*Hello kinder families. Welcome to our 12th week of school! I look forward to a wonderful week ahead. 

Our class had a wonderful time on the Field Trip! Thank you to all of the parents who volunteered and to everyone who made this a wonderful day for our kinders!

Reminders: 

***Our 2026 school fundraiser has begun. Information flyers went home last week. If you would like to donate, scan the QR code in the flyer. Every contribution, big or small, helps our school and makes a meaningful difference for our students. Thank you for helping us reach our school goal!

***Please remember to have your child practice their phonograms each night. We have begun two letter phonograms and are now moving into three letter phonograms. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. 

*Updates:  We’re starting something new! Handwriting grades begin this quarter. Please refer to the handwriting script below to review the proper letter formations as we teach them in class. Something to keep an eye on: all letters start from the top and move down from the top line or midpoint, not up from the baseline. Clock letters start at 2 on the clock. If you see formations that are incorrect, it’s ok to take a few minutes to practice! Practice makes progress! 

General Rules for Manuscript Handwriting: 

• All letters sit on a baseline.

• For letters that begin at 2 on the clock, rounding conforms to the curve of the circle. Every round letter should fit on the same-size clock.

• Lines begin at the top and are straight and parallel. All letters that go below the baseline to the same distance below the baseline as above it.

• Letters or parts of letters are of two sizes. They are either tall or short. Tall letters or tall parts approach but do not touch the line above. Short letters or short parts are half as high as tall letters. They begin at the midpoint between the height of a tall letter and the baseline. 

• Dots and crossbars are tiny, formed just above the midpoint; crossbars are formed in the direction in which we write.

***Dottie the Dear is going on amazing adventures! We love to see everything she has been doing with your child. All students will get a chance to take Dottie home!
