ππ» Spooky Safari: Our Fall Party Adventure!
Our Explorers traded their learning tools for a little Halloween magic as we celebrated with a spooktacular Fall Party! Our classroom was filled with creativity, laughter, and just the right amount of spooky fun!
Our little adventurers put their imaginations to work as they built their very own monsters! With googly eyes, colorful pom-poms, pipe cleaners, and plenty of personality, each Explorer created a one-of-a-kind monster. No two monsters were alike, and the creativity was frightfully fantastic!
Then, things got a little witchy! π§ββοΈ Our Explorers enjoyed some witches' brew (a fun and festive drink) and delicious party snacks while celebrating with their classmates.
From monster-making to spooky sips and tasty treats, our Fall Party was filled with unforgettable memories, big smiles, and plenty of Halloween spirit!

π€ Phonogram Partners: Taking the Lead!
Our Explorers stepped into the teacherβs shoes during our Phonogram Partner Challenge! Students paired up and took turns being the teacher and the learner. One partner became the quizmaster, challenging their teammate to recall and say their phonograms, while the other put their knowledge to the test.
Then, it was time to switch roles! Our Explorers practiced listening carefully, recalling their sounds, and helping one another build confidence and fluency. By taking turns leading the learning, students strengthened their phonogram knowledge while practicing responsibility, teamwork, and leadership.

πͺπ Storytime Math Adventure: The Doorbell Rang!
Our Explorers went on a math and storytime adventure with The Doorbell Rang by Pat Hutchins! π In this fun story, Mom makes a batch of cookies for her children, but just as they are ready to enjoy them, the doorbell keeps ringing! With each new arrival, the children must figure out how to share the cookies fairly with everyone. And, of course, the more friends who arrive, the fewer cookies each person gets!
While reading the story, our Explorers put on their mathematician hats and brought the story to life! We worked together as a class to figure out how many cookies each character would receive every time the doorbell rang. Student helpers came up to the front of the classroom to represent the characters arriving in the story, while we used real cookies to model how the batch would be divided among everyone. Our class worked together to count, share, divide, and check our answers as more and more friends joined the cookie party!
This hands-on adventure helped us explore the real-life math behind equal sharing and division. We discovered that when we share a set amount of something with more people, each person gets a smaller share. It's one thing to solve a math problem on paper, but it's even more exciting to act it out and see the math happen right in front of us!
And what would a cookie adventure be without a sweet ending? πͺ Once all our mathematical investigating was complete, our Explorers got to enjoy some cookies of their own!
Our takeaway? Math is everywhereβeven in a batch of cookies and a ringing doorbell! What a delicious way to learn, collaborate, and explore together! π§β€οΈπͺ

Our Explorers kicked off Fall Break in creative style! π Today, we traded our pencils and math tools for paint, paper, and plenty of imagination as we set off on a Fall Art Expedition!
Our little artists created colorful fall leaves using their handprints, turning each one into a unique piece of our classroom fall landscape. Then came the best partβdesigning our very own personalized pumpkin jack-oβ-lanterns! π
Each Explorer had the freedom to make their pumpkin completely their own. From silly faces and spooky expressions to funny details and creative designs, our pumpkins were as unique as the Explorers who created them!
Our fall creations will soon be displayed together on our Fall Adventure bulletin board, creating a colorful collection of our class's creativity and personality. ππ§‘

On Friday, our Engineering Teams put their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test with a fun challenge called βSaving Fred!β In their collaboration groups, students had to work together to rescue Fred, our gummy worm, who had fallen out of his boat and needed help getting back into his life preserver and boat. π€
Students had to communicate, think creatively, and work together to complete the challenge without using their hands! It was so fun to watch them encourage one another, try different strategies, and learn that sometimes the best way to solve a problem is together! π‘π€
We also had some special helpers join us! My son, Bruce, who is visiting from college, and my daughter, Madison, came in to lend a hand and help our little explorers save Fred. It made the activity even more special! β€οΈ

π¬π§ Science Explorers: Scientists & Engineers!
Friday, our Explorers stepped into the world of scientists and engineers! Working in their collaboration groups, students explored their science magazines, reading, discussing, and sharing their ideas with one another. Along the way, we discovered what scientists and engineers actually do and how they use curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving to make discoveries and find solutions.
Our Explorers learned that scientists ask questions, investigate, and look for answers, while engineers design, create, test, and improve solutions to real-world problems. They even discovered that making mistakes and trying again is an important part of the process!
And the adventure doesn't stop here! πΊοΈ This week, our class will take on a special engineering challenge as we help βMy Friend Fredβ solve a problem. Our Explorers will put on their scientist and engineer hats, work together, think creatively, and see if they can design a solution!
Who knows what discoveries and brilliant ideas our Explorers will uncover? ππ‘βοΈ

Our Explorers embarked on a math adventure to prepare for their Module 1 Math Test! Instead of staying at their desks, they set off on a journey around the classroom, searching for math questions posted at different exploration stations.
At each stop along the trail, students worked together to solve the problem, shared their mathematical thinking, and recorded their answers on their Explorer recording sheets. They had to collaborate, problem-solve, and use their math skills to navigate their way through the adventure!
THey had fun reviewing, exploring, and learning on the move! π§πΊοΈβοΈ

Our Explorers kicked off our very first Flashlight Friday! Students grabbed a book of their choice, turned on their colorful finger flashlights, and settled in for some cozy reading time. πβ¨
Nothing beats a good bookβ¦ unless you get to read it with a flashlight! π¦π
π₯π An Explorer Discovers Cucumber Water!
Sometimes I donβt even realize the little things my Explorers are noticing! One day, I was simply enjoying my cucumber lemon water when one of my students spotted the cucumbers floating in my cup and became curious. Fast-forward a bitβ¦ and now Leo is making his very own version at home! ππ
His mom shared that Leo has been dying to try cucumber lemon water ever since he saw my drink. They made cucumber lime water with lemon juice, and heβs officially a fan!Β
I guess Iβm out here changing livesβ¦ one cup of infused water at a time! π
