Poem Recitation

Students will memorize a poem each quarter to be recited in class.  Students will be graded on their memorization of the poem, eye contact, body language, and volume.  The poem list will be found on this page each quarter.

Book Report

Students are required to complete a book report at home to be turned in on a predetermined date.  We will complete an example in class before the book report criteria is sent home to be completed at home.  During quarter 4 the book report will be completed in class.  The book report form/criteria will be found on this page each quarter.

Quarter 3 Book Report is due on Friday, February 27th at 8:00 a.m.

Book Log

Each quarter first graders are required to read 150 pages or 15 chapters.  A book log will be sent home at the beginning of each quarter to record the reading.  It is good practice to have your child read for 10 minutes a night and record the pages/chapters read each night.  Each night your child's book log is completed, will earn your child a sticker on their reading log chart.  Once that sticker  chart is completed they learn lunch in the classroom with me.  The book log for the current quarter will be found on this page.
