Second Grade News: Week 2 August 3-7 2026
Important Information
Homework information: The only required homework is to practice assigned spelling words and complete assigned math problems. All other homework is helpful practice but not required.
Memorizing poems and completing the quarterly book report should be done at home and are an addition to nightly homework. Please see due dates and plan accordingly.
Look for poem choices to come home this week and return the slip at the bottom as soon as possible.
Book report information went home in the homework folders last week. A copy of the packet can be found on our class website.
All assigned homework will be on the narrow gold slip. The spelling words are copied twice from the composition notebook onto the back of the gold slip. Check their gold slip and sign the bottom after the assignments are completed. Their red homework folder will go home nightly (Mon-Thurs). Please take out the papers that are in the “Keep at Home” side. Return only the work that is on the “Return to School” side.
The gold slip should be returned each morning for checking. Homework should be completed in their neatest handwriting.
The suggested skip-counting assignment should be written on the backside of the gold slip.
The “read 6 pages” is a suggested amount to help keep the students on track for their quarterly goal of 200 pages. Record their book titles and pages read on the Reading Log when a book has been finished. Please do not record daily reading. The Reading Log is located in the cover of their red homework folders.
The suggested math drills sheet will go home on Mondays to be completed nightly and should be returned on Friday. Practicing nightly with subtraction flashcards is the best way for students to memorize their subtraction facts.
