MEDIA & Publishing
Welcome to your Media & Publishing Class.
A High School elective!
I am really excited to teach this class, having written for several publications and worked with different media. The media as we know it is evolving at a rapid pace, almost in real-time. We have gone from newsletters to 'social audio' within a few years. These new 'platforms' and distribution channels are hard to keep up with. To publish is to have an audience. Good writers are always in demand!
This will be my 13th year of teaching; my 6th at Benjamin Franklin High School. I host a podcast , Radio201 out of the Lab, and produce the school podcast, Fully Charged.
This class works alongside the Yearbook class, taught by Mrs. Guinan.

This is a class in which you will tinker with words, and develop your own ‘voice’ and style. In-class, online and group assignments will help you master the writing craft, conduct interviews, shoot video, and produce exciting TV news segments. You will explore emerging publishing technologies, and even to create your own media platform. Guest speakers may include writers and new media professionals. Check out the syllabus for more details.
