Welcome to all my students and parents! My name is Mr. Cook, and I am an English teacher here at BFHS. I was born and raised in Southern California. I played baseball and football in high school and eventually went on to play college baseball at Long Beach State University. When my playing days ended, I worked as a regional scout for the Atlanta Braves as I studied English, with a literature emphasis, and journalism. Upon graduation with my BA in English in 1992, I started teaching English and coaching baseball and golf at Servite High School in Anaheim, California. After 26 years of teaching and coaching at Servite, my family and I moved to Arizona in the summer of 2018. I love being a part of the Ben Franklin family and such a great school.
On this site you will have access to the course syllabus, weekly lesson plans with links to documents and lectures, class announcements, and other important information. The weekly lessons/class schedule will be updated by Friday for the following week.
Remember: In my class, I want you to have fun, and I hope you enjoy yourself. More importantly, I need you to be ready to work hard. English isn't an easy subject, but if you work hard and do your work, you will be fine. I am here to help you if you need it, so please let me know what I can do. I am excited to meet all of my new students, and I look forward to the upcoming school year. Remember: It's a great day to be a Charger!
