Welcome to Band at Benjamin Franklin Elementary Schools! My name is Mr. Reid and I teach Band at all three elementary campuses, Crismon, Gilbert and Power. Whether a student has played an instrument for some time, is looking to start out, or might just be musically curious, we'd love for them to join our program and be a part of the band!

Renting an Instrument vs. Buying

I would highly encourage that during your child's time at BFCS that you rent an instrument! Rental programs in town cover a variety of potential costs that a bought instrument might be in need of. 

Buying an instrument can be very costly to get something of quality and while your child may still be on the fence about what instrument they want to play, or if music is going to be a part of their lives longer term. If you are set on buying an instrument, PLEASE avoid purchasing an instrument off of Amazon!!! The prices will look too good to be true because they are! Many cheap instruments will come with parts not perfectly aligned, made out of cheaper materials that won't produce as authentic of sounds, and are far more prone to breaking (thus costing you more money in the long run). If you are set on buying an instrument, consider music retailers such as Milano Music, Music & Arts, Sweetwater, etc.

 BFCS partners with Milano Music (the largest rental program in AZ) and they provide a Rental Night at each Elementary Campus during the first week of school.
