Weekly Lesson Plan
students are quietly working on a review worksheet while I am taking attendance and pulling kids to work with them.
Oral/Written phonogram review-students practice phonograms out loud and then demonstrate them on paper.
Spelling dictation-Students write weekly spelling words in spelling notebook with rules and markings
Word Analysis-Read spelling words for spelling/reading, review different spelling rules, construct different sentences using one of the spelling words and using context clues to figure out the meaning of the given word in the sentence. Students then practice spelling rules and constructing their own sentence while I check notebooks.
-Daily Grammar-students complete a grammar page daily and then we discuss as a class
-Easy Grammar- Introduce lesson for the day with objectives/purpose
Check for understanding-students will be given an example of the concept learned and will need to complete the excersize on their own-we will go over as a class.
Students will be learning to write a Key Word Outline on a given passage. They will learn to be able to identify key words in the passage to help them retell the story in their own words.
Students will also learn to write correct sentence structure adding in words to make the sentence more interesting for readers to read.
We will also do some creative writing/journal writing as well.
Fluency-students will read with a partner for 1 minute each day
Mental Actions/Attributes of Literature Lesson-teacher model/coaching as I read a passage out loud to the students, and stop to monitor our thinking aloud.
Students return from lunch and I will read to them for 15 minutes
Students are given a literature book that we are assigned to read that week
read whole group with occasional popcorn read, partner read, choral read, while stopping periodically to monitor our thinking
students then read a passage on their own and answer questions-independent work time
Math Warm-up- homework check, math fact fluency, drill practice, mental math, reteach
Lesson- problem of the day,
Introduce Lesson/Objectives- "I do"
Teacher models and demonstrates thinking aloud
Whole Group Practice- "We do"
-students give input/ participates while teacher coaches
Independent Practice- "They Do"
Students do work on their own with teacher guidance
Students will be studying different topics throughout the year with different hands on expriences with science and projects to show what they learned about history along side the Study's Weekly Newspaper.
Students get ready to go home
