Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

Welcome back, artists!

I hope everyone had an amazing summer and is ready to crank up the creativity, turn on the neon, and take a totally tubular trip back to the 80's! This year's art room theme is "Back to the 80's!" We're going to have a blast exploring art while surrounded by bright colors, cassette tapes, arcade games, boom boxes, Rubik's Cubes, and all the totally awesome nostalgia that made the 80's unforgettable.

As Journey said, "Don't Stop Believin'"—especially in your creativity! Every artist has unique talents, and I can't wait to see each student's imagination come to life.

Throughout the year we'll become art detectives as we discover the Elements and Principles of Art, including:

🌈 Color Theory
⭐ Emphasis
➡️ Movement
✋ Texture
🏙️ Space & Perspective
🤝 Unity

We'll also learn about a variety of modern artists and explore how they use these concepts to create incredible works of art. Students will use these artists as inspiration while developing their own artistic style and creating projects they'll be proud of.

Our art room is a place where creativity is celebrated, imagination is encouraged, and everyone is welcome. Whether your child already loves art or is just discovering it, this is a place to take risks, learn new skills, and have fun creating.

To keep our art room running smoother than a fresh cassette tape, students are expected to:

• 🎨 Participate fully and always do their best.

• 🤝 Show respect for classmates, our classroom, and all art supplies.

• 👂 Listen carefully and follow directions.

• 🖌️ Complete projects with creativity, effort, and pride.

• 😊 Encourage one another and be willing to try something new.

When everyone does their part, our classroom becomes a place that's truly rad!

🖼️ Totally Awesome Art Show!

One of the highlights of the year will be our annual School Art Show!

Every student's artwork will be proudly displayed in a gallery transformed into an 80's-inspired art experience! Families will walk through an exhibit filled with colorful masterpieces celebrating everything we've learned throughout the year.

It's always one of my favorite nights of the school year, and I hope your family can join us as we celebrate the amazing creativity and hard work of our young artists.

I feel incredibly lucky to spend the year creating, learning, laughing, and making memories together.

So grab your leg warmers, lace up those high tops, and get ready…
