ABOUT: The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a heavily researched and well-respected aptitude test developed by the Department of Defense. It measures a young adult's strengths and potential for success in military training. Click HERE for more information from goarmy.com.
WHEN: Tuesday, September 26, 2023
Dear Junior Charger Parents/Guardians,
Benjamin Franklin High School will be administering the ASVAB assessment instrument, which is part of the ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP) on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 8:00 am to all juniors. This test is an invaluable tool to help your student with his/her future educational and career plans.
The ASVAB CEP will help your students:
Learn about themselves and the world of work
Explore occupations in line with their interests and skills
Develop an effective strategy to realize their career and education goals
One of the scores of the ASVAB is the military services’ entrance score which your student can use to explore career options in the military. Even if your child’s scores are released to the military, by no means is your child obligated to military service.
Each school determines the information released to the military services as a result of participation in the ASVAB CEP. Benjamin Franklin High School has elected NOT to release scores to the military. If a student/parent would like the score released, the proper paperwork can be obtained through a recruiter.
After your child completes the assessment instrument, the Program Manager will come back to Benjamin Franklin and conduct a Career Seminar with the students. During the Career Seminar, the students will learn about their scores, identify their current interests, learn how to explore over 1,000 careers, and create a career portfolio. They will also be able to assess areas to prepare themselves for the ACT or SAT.
If you would like to explore the program more, please go to www.asvabprogram.com.
Thank you,
John Allen
