A Thriving Community of Artists. We believe actors should act, dancers should dance and singers should sing. Simply put, we believe performers need the opportunity to perform in order to master their craft. From full-scale mainstage productions to student-directed films, we give you countless opportunities to perform. You'll also find audiences in the classrooms, in the black box theatres and on every corner of campus. Begin performing on your very first day of class.
Admission to AMDA requires an audition. AMDA offers numerous audition opportunities in locations throughout the United States and the world. You must be a junior or senior in high school or a high school graduate for your audition to be considered for acceptance into the AOS or Certificate and BFA programs and merit-based scholarship.
AMDA is a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) entity and has been accredited, both institutionally and programmatically, by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) since 1984. NAST has been designated by the United States Department of Education as the agency responsible for the accreditation throughout the United States of freestanding institutions and units offering theatre and theatre-related programs (both degree and non-degree granting).
AMDA is licensed to operate in the state of California by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) under the Department of Consumer Affairs.
