Writing/Grammar & Reading
Welcome to 6th grade! This year will be filled with incredible growth and learning. I am thrilled to be a sixth grade teacher at Benjamin Franklin Charter School, Power Campus. Go Panthers! This is my third year teaching at BFCS, however I've been teaching in various capacities for over 20 years. I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a B.A. in English, and immediately went to the classroom. My passion is teaching literature and writing. Out of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, and being outdoors. I have four kids, and am married to my sweetheart. My husband and I moved our family from Orange County, California in 2007, to settle in the East Valley. We are loving our time out here! I feel blessed to work with your students, and look forward to meeting with all of you!
My favorites are: Amazon, Cherry Coke Zero, dark chocolate and In and Out. I love bright and cheerful colors.

Math & Reading
Educational Background:
B.S. Elementary Education (GCU, 2019)
M.A. Curriculum and Instruction (GCU, 2024)
Educational Philosophy:
My educational philosophy as a 6th grade math teacher revolves around creating a nurturing environment, making math relevant, encouraging collaboration, and developing critical thinking skills. I believe that every student can master mathematical concepts and develop a lifelong appreciation for learning when provided with the right support and encouragement.
Looking forward to...
I am excited to welcome a new group of curious minds and foster a love for math as we explore new concepts together this year. I look forward to engaging lessons that challenge my students and help them grow both academically and personally.
Science/Social Studies & Reading
Welcome to 6th Grade! Get ready for a year full of learning, growth, and fun. I am so glad you are here!
My Experience & Philosophy
I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Family and Human Development and Social Work. I also have a post Bachelor degree in Elementary Education. I have worked in elementary education throughout the past 6 years. Before that I worked in Early Intervention with children from birth to three. I educated children and families how to help their children reach developmental milestones. I am happy to be continuing my journey with the Benjamin Franklin Power Campus team this year. I am excited for you to learn new things and have fun while doing so! My teaching philosophy is to create a positive classroom experience for all children. I want each student to feel valued and supported throughout the school year. I have worked hard the last few years teaching to get to know each child individually and focus on their strengths to help them become successful.
When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family. My husband and I have two amazing boys. My oldest is off to 10th grade next year and my youngest will be entering 6th grade. Some things we love to do in our free time are camping, playing board games, watching/playing sports, and going on vacations (especially to Disney). I love to go shopping and to read. My favorite places to shop are Amazon, TJ MAXX, Nordstrom Rack, and Ulta. My favorite treats are peanut M&M's, Dutch Bros, Spindrift, and In N Out.
I am looking forward to teaching 6th grade History and Science, and I know this will be an amazing year!
