About Beyond100K
Beyond100K mobilizes and supports a multi-sector, field-leading network to make and succeed at public commitments to end the STEM teacher shortage while increasing representation, equity, and belonging, particularly for Black, Latinx, and Native American teachers and students.
In 2021, Beyond100K (formerly 100Kin10) successfully met its first 10-year goal by preparing more than 108,000 excellent STEM teachers for America’s classrooms, surpassing the audacious goal set by President Obama a decade prior. To meet our 100,000 STEM teacher goal, we developed an approach to social change called Networked Impact, which brought our partner organizations together to form a unified identity under a common goal and work collaboratively to develop innovative solutions to shared challenges that none of us could solve alone. We achieved this goal in the midst of a growing national teacher shortage and a global pandemic, uniting over 300 leading academic institutions, nonprofit institutions, foundations, and government agencies and 3,000 individuals across the country to tackle something seemingly intractable – ending the STEM teacher shortage, so that all kids could have access to a great STEM education and contribute their spark to a brighter future.
Over the next ten years, we are building on our success in the first decade and our networked impact approach. By 2032, the Beyond100K network will reduce the STEM teacher shortage by one-third, mobilizing a growing network to prepare 150,000 and retain 150,000 excellent STEM teachers who increasingly represent the diversity of our nation’s classrooms and who commit to cultivating classrooms of belonging, beginning in schools in Black, Latinx, and Native American communities, so that all students can thrive in STEM.
