Former Bexley School psychologist Kristen Rohrer gives a 15 minute training on the evaluation timeline, parent requests, the difference between medical vs educational disabilities, and the educational disability categories.

IEP Section 1- Future Planning and Profile

The future planning and profile section are important sections of an IEP that should document your child's strengths and unique challenges.  Bexley intervention specialists explain these sections,  what should or shouldn't be included, and why a parent's and student's insight in this section is valuable and should be documented.

Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA)

Michelle Jones M.A. BCBA supports Bexley staff across the district.  In this training she discusses what a Functional Behavioral Assessment is, when it is necessary, and how it is used in a classroom.

Sensory Processing in the School Setting 

Jessica Rubin M.S. OTR/L discusses what sensory processing differences are and how they are addressed in a school setting.  

This presentation includes a review of the 8 sensory systems, signs of possible dysregulation with those systems, and the difference between school based services and outside occupational therapy.

Postsecondary Transition- Section 5 of the IEP

What is a post-secondary transition?  Most parents don't know what this section 5 of the IEP is until their child is a teen.  This presentation help us better understand what post-secondary transitions (section 5) is and how this section can set our children up for success in their plans for after high school.

Assistive Technology in the Bexley Schools

Van Lemmon from Central Ohio Assistive Technology introduces and discusses some of the current assistive technology within the Bexley school district.  

This is recording is valuable for parents and educators who would like to learn what assistive technology is, how it is used, and what options currently exist.

Transitions within Schools

Bexley staff members discuss what they do to communicate and prepare teams for transitions between grades, schools, and for new team members when a child has an IEP.  Staff presenters include:  Sam McMasters, Director of Student Services; Cathy Rodeheffer, Coordinator of Special Education; and Intervention Specialists: Stephanie Langley, Cassingham; Colette Young, Cassingham; Brooke Shouse, Montrose.

Mental Health Resources within the Bexley Schools

Bexley school counselors, Nationwide Children's Hospital therapists, and our Mental Health Specialist all discuss ways they support students in the Bexley school district.  This presentation covers the SEL curriculum, the process to receive in school Nationwide support, and how mental health needs might be addressed for a student with an IEP.

Progress Monitoring: IEP Goals and in the Classroom

Barb Gentille Green, Director of Student Services and Accessibility at Bexley City Schools. gives an overview of what progress monitoring is and how it looks in the general education setting and for IEP goals.  The presentation covers ways progress is monitored, common terminology, resources, with some additional questions asked by parents during the presentation.

Postsecondary Pathways


Life after graduation, college, jobs, and life skills.... it is HUGE life transition that the IEP can help students prepare for.  

Section 5 of the IEP includes Postsecondary services and activities.  Libby Costin, Transition Specialist within the Bexley Schools, explores the different pathways, gives ideas of how parents and students can advocate and adjust the plan if needed, and shows there are likely more paths then you imagined.  It doesn't matter if a student is going to college, technical school, or going right to a job- the IEP team can start supporting that journey early.
