Chorus Information
When does Chorus meet?
Chorus meets every day during the second Global Apps (GA2) period in your student's schedule. The class lasts for 45 minutes.
If my student enrolls in chorus, does that mean they won’t get Wellness, Art, or STEM?
Not at all! Since there are two separate Global Apps blocks each day, students in chorus will have a different one of these during GA1 every trimester. So for example, a student may have Art during T1, STEM during T2, and Wellness during T3.
So what is my student missing during GA2?
Your student would be missing an extra Global Apps class such as Art, STEM, Wellness, Library, Leadership, etc. but again, they would get a minimum of Art, STEM, and Wellness anyway during the GA1 block throughout the year.
Can my student participate in two or three ensembles?
Students may not participate in all three ensembles (band, chorus, and strings). If a student would like to do two of the ensembles, they may only do so after having been in one of their chosen ensembles for a full year first. So for example, a student who is doing strings in 4th grade currently may opt to do strings and chorus or strings and band as a fifth grader after completing a year of strings. Or a student who jumped into chorus as their first ensemble as a 6th grader may opt to do chorus and strings or chorus and band as a 7th grader after completing a year of chorus.
My student has been in one group for a year and wants to add a second group next year. What does that schedule look like?
Since the ensembles meet at the same time and every day, students would alternate days in their ensemble. See our current doublers schedule for an example!
Is there a cost to participate in Chorus?
There is no cost to enroll in the course.
Is chorus an after-school group?
No, Chorus meets during school as a class during the second Global Apps class block. We will have 2 evening concerts each year (one in December and one in June) but this is the only scheduled commitment outside of school, and if you have scheduling conflicts we will work with you on a solution.

About Me:
Welcome to Chorus and Drama! This will be my sixth year teaching at Beverly Middle School and my first year teaching Chorus. Over the past few years, I have worked both in 5th and 6th grade, helping students achieve their academic and social goals throughout the school day. Before coming to Beverly, I was a first-grade teacher in Peabody, MA after earning my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Wheelock College in Boston, MA. I have been singing and acting all my life and finally realized that music education was my passion, so I decided to pursue a degree in Music Education from Gordon College. Teaching kids how to sing, dance, and express themselves creatively is the most rewarding part of my day!
