Below you will find the criteria that the BHS Art Department uses to identify a students current level of attainment. The system is based on the language used to assess GCSE submissions. This allows the students to become familiar with some of the requirements of an Art & Design GCSE course, allowing them to make an informed options choice when the time comes.

Stretch & Challenge
The activities in this section are designed to allow students to practice and refine skills that are covered during Art lessons. The activities can be done exactly as intended or could merely serve as inspiration for a different piece of Art. There is no limit to creativity and the tasks should be thought of as a starting point with the end goal being for students to work on their own independent projects, base on their own interests.
Year 9 Art Day
On Monday 5th February 2024 a group of 31 Year 9 pupils worked in the Art Department to produce work based on the theme of Biodiversity. It was an excellent opportunity for the pupils to be creative and work as part of a large team.
The results were fantastic and can be seen below!
