Percussion

Students wanting to be in the percussion section will go through an assessment testing their abilities in: maintaining a steady beat, playing basic rhythms, hand independence, pitch matching.

Membership in this section is very limited.

Students in the percussion section will be required to learn keyboard, snare drum, and auxiliary instruments. Due to this, qualities preferred for percussionists are:

1. Motivated

2. Willing to practice often

3. Self-starter

4. Independent

Due to members of the percussion section joining by audition, the directors reserve the right to add percussionists to the section during the year. They also reserve the right to redistribute part assignments in the event that a student is unprepared for an upcoming performance.
