College Certification Opportunities

at Bettendorf High School

Bettendorf High School offers college level course work to our students resulting in a College Certificate should the student successfully complete required coursework. Currently, students can take part in the following certification programs if they have met prerequisite requirements; have a 90% attendance rate, and a 2.75 GPA.


The Automotive Technology Certificate prepares individuals for entry-level work in the industry in roles such as oil lube technician, customer service, parts delivery, and tire technician.

This certificate prepares an entry-level technician with fundamental concepts enabling the person to work with an experienced technician or engineer performing standard tests and measurements in an industrial setting.

This certificate offers students the baseline knowledge needed for ARC, MIG, TIG, core wire, and gas welding. Student completing this certificate can expect to be hired on in a shop as a entry level welder or can considering continuing their education.

This certificate provides students with the basic skills to work as an assistant in the industry. Students can continue on into a culinary program or apprenticeship.

Child Development Associates (CDAs) are skilled caregivers with demonstrated ability to work with newborn through five-year-old children, infant and toddler or preschool children and their families. Some are center-based caregivers, while others are family day care providers.

The Small Business Certificate prepares students for entry level management positions or puts students ahead as they begin a degree in business.

Certified Nurse Assistance (CNA) Option

The Health Science program at BHS prepares students for whatever their Health Care Career goals include. With a deep exploration into career options, medical terminology and then growing the skills set in hands on labs, students can expect to be prepared for the career or classroom of their choosing.
