Bettendorf Public Works Day
 Saturday, May 16th 9 AM - 1 PM
Our committee will be hosting a booth to educate citizens on the ways our public works is helping conserve wildlife on public property. We hope you can stop by our booth and attend this wonderful event that showcases all the things our public works department does for our city.
Wildlife Wednesdays
BCC Past Events
Invasive Species Removal
Garlic Mustard was removed between the bike path and Duck Creek in the Springs of 2022 & 2023. Honeysuckle was removed at Forest Grove Park in April 2022 and at Devils Glen Park in October 2020, 2021, and 2022.
Education
Flyers about BCC and conservation-related issues in our community were handed out at the Bettendorf Maintenance Expo in the Springs of 2022 & 2023. In the Summer of 2022 & 2023, storm sewers were spray painted around town to raise awareness about runoff water in these storm drains leading right into our creeks, rivers, and eventually the ocean.
Restoration
A pollinator garden was planted at Devils Glen Park in the Summer of 2023 to provide habitat for the endangered Rusty-Patched Bumble Bee. This federally endangered species was photographed in the park in the Summer of 2021, and on the south side of Duck Creek by Hollowview Park in the Summer of 2022.
Wednesday Walks in the Park
In June, July, and August in the Summer of 2023, BCC hosted 1 Wednesday where they provided tours of a different park.
Explore Bettendorf's Parks: Thursdays in the Summer from June 16th - August 5th, 2021 & 2022
We conducted educational seminars and tours of 8 different parks in Bettendorf each Thursday from 7-8:30 AM, 9-10:30 AM and 6-7:30 PM. These events were free to the public and will hopefully take place again in 2023, with one presentation every month between April-October.
Explore Bettendorf's Parks: Thursdays in the Summer from June 16th - August 4th from 9-10:30 AM or 6-7:30 PM
We will meet at a park pavilion for a 15-30 minute presentation on the history, amenities, and environmental conservation projects in the park. The presentation will be followed by a tour of the park that will be specific to the interests of anyone attending, as well as an opportunity to volunteer if everyone attending is interested in doing so!
If you missed the presentation but would like to learn more about a specific Bettendorf Park, just click on the park below to open up the Google Slides that were shared at the park tour presentation.
