The idea for this campaign, "Break the Cycle," was born from one simple yet powerful observation. In a casual class conversation, a classmate uttered a comment that revealed how much stigma is still associated with menstruation. This triggered a discussion among us on how deeply these taboos are ingrained in our society. We realized that most people, especially the youth, have very little awareness about the topic and find it difficult to talk about it, something which is natural to our body. This realization set our souls on fire to fight against these deep-rooted stigmas and build a more open and aware setting around menstruation. We believe that breaking the silence and encouraging open dialogue can empower individuals and contribute toward an equitable society.
Our journey to raise awareness began with a desire to create meaningful change within our own community. We started by conducting interviews with students to understand their perspectives on menstruation and the existing stigma. This process was incredibly eye-opening. Equipped with the interview, we designed a multi-layered campaign outreach. We created engaging social media content, leveraging the power of online platforms to reach a wider audience. As we actively engaged with our peers and shared our message, it was not only about raising awareness but also about providing a safe space to speak about menstruation. In that process, we learned some valuable experience in public speaking, communication, and community engagement. More importantly, this instilled in us an understanding of the importance of breaking the silence and challenging the norms.
