Spanish @ Irving Elementary

Class overview

I am excited to explore the Spanish language with your student! We will practice basic vocabulary, sing songs, play games and learn about new cultures. On this website, I will share what we're currently learning, post artwork we've created and link songs and information that I share in class. Please check back often for updates and more info.

Class expectations for success in Spanish class:

1) Enter & exit the classroom quietly.

2) Sit correctly in your chair.

3) Raise your hand to speak.

4) Ask permission to leave your seat.

5) Give your best effort.

6) Have fun!

About me: Maestra Thornton

This is my 18th year of teaching but my third year teaching elementary school! I spent the previous 15 years teaching Spanish at Springfield High School. I am very excited to be at Irving and love the energy and enthusiasm of the students. They are eager to learn and I appreciate their participation and willingness to speak Spanish.

I enjoy spending time with my family - I have a 7th grader and a 4th grader and my husband is a math teacher in 4J. Hiking and camping, reading and being active are some of the things I enjoy doing. I LOVE to travel, especially to Spanish-speaking countries!
