About Me

Hello! Thank you for stopping by.

I sometimes decribe middle school as a rafting trip; on this rafting trip it is completely normal to have some calm water but also some white water rapids. My entire job is to help students thrive in the calm water and help them cope in the rapids.

My first job out of college was teaching high school english and social studies. I loved it but honestly liked connecting with the students much more than teaching! So I pursued my counseling degree. I completed my masters in community and school counseling in 2010 and worked with children and families as a mental health therapist. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I have experience working with children across the country (since I've lived in Colorado, Texas, Virginia, and Oregon) but particularly love working within the school setting. Prior to coming the Shasta I was a supervisor of a therapeutic/psychiatric day-treatment program. I have a unique expertise in child and adolescent development, suicide prevention and intervention, self-injury and sex education.
